Rider Verla Pacey turns 105 in September. Not only has she lived through the Great Influenza epidemic (Spanish Flu), but she beat COVID-19 in 2020.

When asked about riding on the trishaw, she noted, “I feel like a young person again.”

“It really is an experience,” rider Evelyn Pitcher remarked. “I feel like I am going to Europe.”

‘The smiles on their faces were huge’: Cycling Without Age group looks to further expand into Smiths Falls

For those riding in the trishaw’s front-row seat, the activity is an experience of a lifetime. Amy Ryan, activity director at Broadview Nursing Centre, said that was the case when CWALC and Brockville provided rides at the nursing home this past June.

“It was fabulous, the residents absolutely loved it and asked to have it happen again,” she said. “The smiles on their faces were huge.”
