Become a Pilot

Our trishaw will be waiting for you to step on the pedals as a pilot and get your elderly neighbors out to see the world again. You can book a trip online when you have the time, desire and the weather is favourable, because there aren’t any determined timetables.

If you feel like making someone’s day by giving a bicycle ride along the scenic Mississippi River, then become a pilot with Cycling Without Age Lanark County. Here, you can make a difference in a rewarding community while meeting new people and even getting some free exercise. As a pilot, you also join an international community of like-minded caring people – the Cycling Without Age family.

You

As long as you can ride a bicycle and have a desire to help others, then there is plenty of space for you. Our pilots are everyone from directors to senior citizens. All chapters worldwide have developed pilot training under the motto: “Hurry up slowly – turn softly”.

Becoming a Pilot

We ask for a minimum commitment of one hour per month from our pilots. If this is something you feel called to do, here are the steps to becoming a pilot.

  1. The Pilot is a position of trust and authority towards vulnerable people. Complete the Vulnerable Sector Check Form and take it along with our Request for Vulnerable Sector Check to your local police department. If you have a vulnerable sector check completed within the past two years, that is sufficient. Some Seniors’ Residences may have additional requirements for volunteers.
  2. Read the Pilot Training Manual.
  3. View the Pilot Training Videos.
  4. Send us your contact information so we can arrange for hands-on Trishaw training. Bring your completed Vulnerable Sector Check Form with you to the training.
