Welcome to Our May-June 2024 Newsletter

It’s finally Trishaw weather and our Trishaw has been making the rounds of community events in Carleton Place.

CWA Lanark County helped Carleton Place celebrate their “Best Small Town” win on Saturday, May 4. Recognized by Ottawa radio station Chez 106, the town was ready to party and our Trishaw, Rickshaw and pilots joined the scene. Town residents enjoyed Trishaw rides in downtown Carleton Place.

WE ARE continuing this month with our pilot training sessions and CWA LC is proud to welcome Joe O’Hara, our latest certified pilot. If you are in need of a refresher course, or know of someone who would like to become a pilot, please contact Treff Peters at 613 257-2892 to ensure a spot on the next training scheduled for Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Stoneridge Manor. Trainees are encouraged to study the training manual and watch the videos on our website, http://cwalc.org, in advance of the training sessions.

MAY is Mother’s Day Month and our “Mother’s Day $10 Trishaw Gift Certificate” is happening until the end of the month. Treat mom and her friend, relative and/or neighbour for a fun ride on the Trishaw. Contact Treff at 613 257-2892 for details.

Get ready for June because….

ON Monday, June 17, 2024, the Carleton Place Band will be starting their Summer Concert Series from 7:30 to 8:30 pm and CWALC will be there. We plan to take concert fans for rides while listening to the musician’s melodic tunes. Junction Station Park is the current location, but it may change to Riverside Park by the Canoe Club. Stay ‘tuned’ for further details.

PILOTS are invited to a CWALC Zoom meeting on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 7 pm. This is your opportunity to meet other pilots, share your experiences and help us network CWA within the Lanark community. July and August will be our busy season and we welcome your thoughts and ideas on how to make it a fantastic season! A Zoom link will be shared with you closer to June 18.

DID you know that CWALC will be at “Wheels on the Mississippi”? Come join us on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Riverside Park. Visitors will be able to take a ride on the Trishaw from their parked car to the car show. Drop in and say hello to us between 9 am and 2 pm.

CIRCLE your calendar, if you haven’t already for Sunday, June 30, 2024. From 10 am to 2 pm, CWALC will be hosting “Summer Promotion Day” at Stoneridge Manor. We will be offering demo rides in the round-about and parking lot for Stoneridge residents, family members and staff. Festivities will include balloons, refreshments and music. By providing Trishaw awareness we hope to increase the Stoneridge Manor ridership over the summer. Everyone is welcome!

INTRODUCING key member of CWA LC, Elizabeth Hare.  One of our unsung volunteers and hero is Elizabeth Hare. Working from behind the scenes, Elizabeth has helped us improve our website, edit communications, develop social media and is supportive of funding applications. She is a retired professionally trained “classical secretary” who held administrative and editorial jobs with the government. Elizabeth returned to school as an adult and earned a diploma in Web Design. We are extremely fortunate to have Elizabeth on ‘Team CWA LC’

Until next time, enjoy the Trishaw weather!
