February 2024 Newsletter: Welcome to the Last Stretch of February!

There is lots of interesting news to share with our sponsors, passengers, friends and fellow CWA Lanark pilots.

First, we say goodbye to Kerri Seabrook, Executive Director at Stoneridge Manor in Carleton Place. Kerri, a staunch supporter of CWA in Lanark, will be moving on to a national position with Extendicare. We thank Kerri for all of her time and efforts promoting CWALC and wish her the very best in her new job.

Malaysian rickshaw donated by Phil Tanner.

Check out the latest addition to our fleet. Phil Tanner from Stittsville donated his Malaysian rickshaw to CWALC. After some mechanical upkeep and a dose of TLC, Treff and Mark think the colourful vehicle will be roadworthy enough to accompany our regular Trishaw on the streets and trails in Carleton Place.

Circle Thursday, March 7, on your calendar and join us at the “Sign-Up Night” at the Carleton Place Arena. From 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm, local organizations (like us) will be promoted and available to share what they will be offering in the Spring/Summer/Fall of 2024.

Meet a Pilot, featuring Deirdre (Dee) Stuart

“My name is Deirdre but everyone knows me as Dee.
I live in Kanata and enjoy all outdoor activities and especially love cycling. The first time I saw a Trishaw was at a United Way fundraiser in Carleton Place. I was intrigued and soon became a trained pilot. Cycling along the Mississippi River Walk Trail is a scenic ride for the Stoneridge Manor residents. We chat about the animals and plants, and say hello to the people we meet along the way. It’s a joy for the resident to be on a Trishaw ride, especially when the pilot is pedaling!”

The Ambassador Program continues with our weekly information table in the foyer at Stoneridge Manor.

Sneak Preview of Upcoming CWALC Spring Events: Earthfest on April 20 and a Spring Promotion of CWALC in May.
